He led his troops with great skill and held his post under heavy fire for five days to defend the country. Even when offered rest, he refused to leave the frontlines. He was martyred on the battlefield and posthumously awarded the <strong data-start=\"3470\" data-end=\"3489\">Nishan-e-Haider<\/strong>, Pakistan\u2019s highest military award.
